Our students and graduates bring specialist knowledge, transferable skills and a fresh perspective to your business. Recruiting students and graduates can also help you to grow your team, build a pipeline of talent and futureproof your organisation.

Ìý

There are many ways for businesses to engage with students and graduates, so it can be confusing to know where to start. Here’s a brief explanation of each option to get you started:

Ìý

Ìý

  • Short-term internships (RISE 70-100 Hour Internship)
    • Typically lasting 1-3 months.
    • Internships are a great option if you have a shorter-term project or a busy period, or if you would like to trial student and graduate recruitment.
    • If applicable, the provision of funding to alleviate the overall cost of hiring

Ìý

  • Sandwich Placements
    • A paid 9-12 month period of work experience between students’ second and third years.
    • Placements allow students to deliver their expertise in your organisation while developing their skills and knowledge.
    • If the placement goes well, you can offer students a graduate position before they apply to other roles. Placements are also known as ‘sandwich placements’ or the ‘industrial placement’.
  • Consultancy Projects
    • An opportunity for students to conduct live projects with businesses as part of their course.
    • This gives you access to skilled students who will work on a project specified by your organisation and agreed with the University.
    • Students present their findings to the business and provide a written report with recommendations.

Ìý

  • Graduate Recruitment Support

Ìý
