Chamber launches cycle to work scheme for staff

As the lockdown starts to ease, Greater Manchester Chamber is partnering with to offerstaffa cycle to work scheme.

Available to all permanentChamberstaff, the salary sacrifice scheme enables employeesto purchase a bike and/or appropriate clothing and protective/safety equipment, as well asbenefitfrom tax andNational Insurancesavings.

Thescheme will be supported by the following amenitiesat Elliot House:

  • 12 bike railsto allow for safe and secure storage of bikes.
  • Showersmaintained as part ofa‘Covid Secure’ plan to ensure they are safe to use.
  • Apumpandbasic maintenance kit for communal use

Nathan Chew, Chamber Space General Manager,said: “The cycle to work scheme is part ofour commitment to helpingthose staff whowantto return to the office to commute to work safely.

“Cycling provides a healthy and environmentally-friendlyalternative to commuting by public transport or car. Local authorities are also encouraging people to cyclemoreby increasing the number of cycle lanes, so this is a great time to try cycling to work.”

Manchester has ambitious plans to become the UK’s leading cycling city and, following the Covid 19 pandemic, work is in place to make cycling significantly safer and more accessible in Greater Manchester.
